Karela United lost 1-0 in their first game in the G-8 tournament against last season’s finalist, Hearts of Oak at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium.
In the opinion of their Head Coach, Johnson Smith, the Nzema based side lost as a result of inexperience.Left winger, Isaac Mensah’s 28th minute goal gave Hearts maximum points on the opening day of the competition and Coach Johnson Smith, who guided Karela to the Ghana Premier League, wasn’t too excited with the guts his players showed.
“Our defenders were shiveringbecause it was their first match in the Premier division. It was against Hearts of Oak; very few players can stand such a match, so, if my boys were shivering, it’s understandable because they are now gearing up for the Premier footbal” said Coach Smith.
“[Now] I’ve to inspire them, give them courage and confidence to play in many games” he added.
