Former Hearts of Oak defender, Dan Oppong guided Sunyani-based Young Apostles FC to qualify to the second-tier league, the Division One, with a 5-3 penalty shoot-out win over Kato Freedom Fighters in the Brong Ahafo third-tier middle league game on Sunday.
Oppong, who was part of the Phobians when they won the maiden edition of the CAF Confederations Cup in the 2004/05 season, was Head Coach for Young Apostles who put up sterling performances to emerge winners in the tough campaign.
The final game of the Brong Ahafo middle league ended goalless in regulation time but Young Apostles converted all their five penalties whilst Freedom Fighters missed two.
Oppong is expected to continue as Head Coach in the newly promoted Division One, Zone One League, though he has already attracted the interest of both BA United and Bofoakwa Tano.
