The Vice President of Goldfields Ghana Limited, Alfred Baku has come out with the reasons which made his output to stop sponsoring the Black stars.

Baku stated that they were forced to step aside by the Ghana football Association in other for a new entity to take over as the headline sponsor of the Black Stars.

”We sponsored the Black Stars for over five years and we spent over $15m on them. We saw the value in doing that because the first year we supported the Black stars we qualified to the Germany 2006 world cup and the following four years in South Africa we also” Baku Stated in a Press Conference in Accra on Tuesday.

”The GFA were knocking on our doors that other entities want to come in and sponsor so we said it is okay lets allow others to come in and we told them we would like to step aside,”

“We did not step aside because we had run out of support but it was because we want to give chance to others to also come in”

The Goldfields Ghana Limited are now sponsoring Golf in this country.
